QUIZ: Choose One Zen Card To Read Your Guiding Message From Osho

During his lifetime Osho Rajneesh was viewed as a controversial mystic, guru, and spiritual teacher. He came to prominence as a spiritual guru not just in India, but also internationally. His teachings focus on the necessity for meditation, awareness, love, celebration, courage, creativity, and humor, all of which he believed to be suppressed by traditional belief systems, religious tradition, and socialization.

Which of these Zen cards will you choose to receive a guiding message?

If you chose Zen Card Number…

1 – Inside voice

If you have found the truth within yourself, there is nothing else to find in this whole existence. The truth is working through you. When you open your eyes, it is the truth that opens your eyes. When you close your eyes, it is the truth that is closing them.

This is a tremendous meditation. If you can simply understand the trick, you don’t have to do anything; Whatever you are doing is done by the truth. When you walk, it’s the truth; when you sleep, it’s the truth resting; when you speak, it’s the truth speaking; when you are silent, it is the truth that is silence.

This is one of the simplest meditation techniques. Little by little everything is put in its place with this simple formula and then there is no need for technique. When you are healed you discard the meditation, you throw away the medicine. Then you live as truth: alive, radiant, happy, joyous, like a song for yourself. Your whole life becomes a prayer, in a state of prayer, a grace, a beauty that does not belong to our worldly life, a ray of light coming from the beyond to the darkness of our world.

Osho Zen Advice For Card 1: The inner voice doesn’t speak with words but in the language of the heart. It’s like an oracle that only tells the truth. If I had a face, it would be like the face in the center of this card: alert, observant and capable of accepting both darkness and light, symbolized by the two hands that hold the crystal. The crystal by itself represents the clarity that comes from transcending all dualities.

The inner voice can also be playful, as it enters deeply into the emotions and re-emerges to rise towards the sky like two dolphins dancing in the water of life. It is connected to the cosmos through the crown of the crescent moon and to the earth represented by the green leaves in the figure of the kimono.

There are moments in our lives where it seems that many voices pushed us to either side. Our own confusion in such situations is a reminder to seek silence and be centered. Only then are we able to hear our truth. (Osho The Great Zen Master Ta Hui Chapter 23)

2 – Fighting

At one time he was there and the next moment he left. In one moment we are here and the next moment we are gone. And in this simple moment there is so much violence, ambition, struggle, conflict, anger, hatred … And all for this little moment! We simply wait for the train to arrive in the waiting room of a station and we create a lot of fuss: we fight, we hurt each other, we try to possess, we try to lead, we try to dominate: everything is political. And then the train arrives and you are gone forever.

Osho Zen Advice For Card 2: The figure on this card is completely covered with armor. Only his look of anger and the white of his knuckles are visible in his tight fists. If you look at the armor a little more closely, you can see that it is covered with buttons, ready to detonate if someone gets too close to them. In the background, in the shadow, we see a film that goes through the mind of this man: two figures fighting for a castle.

An explosive temper often hides the deep sense of pain. We think that this way we scare people away from us so we can avoid being hurt even more. Actually, just the opposite happens: by covering our wounds with armor we are preventing them from healing. Whipping others prevents us from receiving the love and care we need.

If this description seems to refer to you, it is time to stop fighting. There is so much love at your fingertips, if you just let it in. Start by forgiving yourself: you deserve it. (Osho Take it Easy, Volume 1 Chapter 13)

3 – A desire for innocence

Zen says that if you throw aside all your knowledge – and together with all you knowledge everything is included; your name, your identity, everything, because this has been given to you by others – if you throw away everything that has been given to you by others, you will have a totally different quality of your being: innocence. This will be a crucifixion of the person, the personality, and a resurrection of your innocence will take place. You will become a child again, reborn.

Osho Zen Advice For Card 3 : The old man in this letter radiates an innocent delight to the world. There is a sense of grace surrounding him, as if he were at home with himself and with what life has brought. He seems to have a playful communication with the shearing on his finger, as if they were both best friends. The pink flowers falling around represent a time of letting go, relaxation and sweetness. They are a response to his presence, a reflection of his own qualities.

The innocence that comes with a deep life experience is candid, but not childish. The innocence of the children is beautiful, but ignorant. It will be replaced by distrust and doubt when the child grows up and learns that the world can be a dangerous and threatening place. But the innocence of a life lived in a complete way has a quality of wisdom and acceptance of the ever-changing surprise of existence. (Osho Dang Dang Doko Dang Chapter 7)
