Our bodies are full of energies, constantly flowing through us and helping to direct our spiritual path. While we may be unaware of what these energies are trying to tell us, waking up at the same time each day is a sign that shouldn’t be ignored!
Ancient Chinese medicine studied the energy of the body, and the way in which it was connected to an internal clock system, energizing different parts of your body at different times throughout the day. If you find that you are waking repeatedly at a specific time during the night this may be a message that you need to hear.
If you find that you are having a difficult time falling asleep during this time of night, the typical time that most people fall asleep, this is a sign that you have a high level of stress and worries in your life. The simple answer to this is that you need to relax, although that is not always as easy to put into action. Try including meditation, muscle relaxation and positive mantras in your life, and you should see an improvement in your sleeping patterns.
Waking Between 11:00PM and 1:00AM
When someone finds themselves waking regularly during this time, it has been connected to the gallbladder energy meridian. The gallbladder, which is associated with emotional disappointment, is most active during these hours. If you are struggling with sleep during these hours, and would like to remedy the situation, you should forgive others, letting go of any grudges that you have been holding onto, and make a point of practicing self acceptance and love.
Waking Between 1:00AM and 3:00AM
Ancient Chinese medicine indicates that waking during the hours of 1:00AM and 3:00AM is associated with the liver and body clock meridians. These energies are connected with problems of anger, caused by an excess of yang energy in your life.
To improve your sleep during these hours you need to begin by taking ownership of whatever situations may be making you angry at this time. Drinking cold water has also been found to be effective.
Waking Between 3:00AM and 5:00AM
If you are waking up during these hours, this may be a very important spiritual sign indicating that your higher power is trying to direct your attention to messages and signs that you have previously been sent and may not have been open to receiving. These messages may lead you in the direction needed to discover your higher purpose. Waking up during this time has been associated with the energies that run through the lungs, and the emotion of sadness. To improve your ability to sleep during this time, try to breathe slowly and practice deep breathing exercises.
Waking Between 5:00AM and 7:00AM
Waking up early in the morning has been found to be connected to emotional blockages. These hours are associated with the energies that travel through the large intestines. The phenomenon of waking up suddenly, as many experience during these hours, is called sleep inertia. When experiencing this our prefrontal cortex is not yet awake, and as such we are not yet capable of intelligent thoughts. Try taking a quick trip to the bathroom and then stretching your muscles before attempting to go back to sleep.
